In January, a group of tremors with a magnitude of more than 4.5 struck the capital, Ankara, Manisa and Mugla, and an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.8 struck Elazig and Malatya and was felt by residents of the southern regions of Turkey, as well as killing eighteen people and losing thirty Others, and thirty aftershocks followed, and then Turkish President “Recep Tayyip Erdogan” tweeted on his Twitter page saying: “We stand by our people through all our institutions, especially the government agency for disasters and the Red Crescent”.

It is noteworthy that Turkey witnessed a number of earthquakes throughout its history, the worst of which was the 1999 earthquake that killed seventeen thousand people near Izmit, 105 km from Istanbul, and its damage included about 285 buildings.
